Opening ceremony for a new building in Institute of Enology and Viticulture
On Thursday, June 9, 2022, the opening ceremony for a new building in Institute of Enology and Viticulture was held.
The new building was constructed to make education and research space to accommodate an increase in the number of students and recurrent education, and to consolidate the “Extension Division,” which was previously located in a separate building to educate engineers and provide technical assistance to companies, in order to conduct the efficient analysis work and cooperative research projects.
At the ceremony, President Shimada Shinji said,” We expect that this development will further strengthen the education and research functions of the Institute of Enology and Viticulture, which is at the core of Japan’s leading wine research.”
After the ribbon-cutting ceremony by parties and guests, the participants toured the new building under the guidance of Professor. Shunji Suzuki, Director of the Institute of Enology and Viticulture.
The new building is adjacent to the main building and has one basement floor and three stories above ground. The basement has a wine cellar, the first floor has a ‘sensory testing room’ for wine tasting, and the second floor has an ‘instrument analysis room’ with equipment for analyzing wine taste and aroma.
